Aluminiowy drut lity gatunku 4043 do spawania metodą MIG stopów aluminium Al-Si oraz Al-Si-Mg o maksymalnej zawartości dodatków stopowych poniżej 2% i zawartości krzemu Si do 7%. Sprawdza się również przy połączeniach czystego aluminium oraz różnych gatunków stopów aluminium np. aluminium serii 6000 z 1000 lub 6000 z 3000 zarówno przy spawaniu stopów odlewniczych, jak i przerobionych plastycznie. Wysoka zawartość krzemu korzystnie wpływa na płynność ciekłego jeziorka, łatwość spawania i kontrolę podczas spawania. Lico jest jasne, połyskujące. Spoiwo charakteryzuje duża odporność na pękanie gorące podczas spawania i krzepnięcia. Nie zaleca się stosowania drutu AlSi5 do spawania elementów i konstrukcji, które po zakończeniu procesu poddane zostaną anodyzowaniu – ciemnoszary odcień w okolicy spoiny.
